After rigorous and prolonged testing by the BETA group of Lollipop testers, we are now ready to launch the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for BARTEC PIXAVI Mobile Devices. All new devices ship with the latest firmware, and devices in the field, dating back to August 2014, can install the latest update on their Pixavi device over the air. This software version is a huge step towards increased security, usability, performance and battery capacity. The update has been developed in-house by BARTEC PIXAVI in Norway. The update is available for all our devices, Impact X, Gravity X and Orbit X. This is a worlds first for hazardous areas!

Improved security, battery performance and usability

  • Improved security features
  • Improved battery performance
  • New Orbit X app
  • Android for work
  • Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux)
  • Advanced Encryption
  • Smart Lock and Device Protection
  • Multi User and Guest Mode
  • Improved support for enterprise level Wi-Fi networks
  • Monthly security updates
  • Further upgrade path to Android M (6.0 Marshmallow) and Android N (7.0 Nougat)
  • The majority of Samsung Knox technology is implemented in Android 5.1.1 and beyond

How to install it on your device

Connect your device to the internet and use the “Software Update” app. If you have an Orbit X, read these instructions.  For Impact X or Gravity X you need to:

  • Connect to the internet
  • Open the System Update app
  • Click “Check for update”
  • Download and install

If you’ve never installed updates before, or if it’s been a while since you last updated, then you might need to update multiple times before getting Lollipop. The process itself takes around 15-20 minutes. Recommend that the user has the device connected to a power outlet. The process works like this:

  • Install recovery to boot & reboot to boot
  • Install recovery to recovery & reboot to recovery (this ensures the real update happens with the LP recovery)
  • Install system to system, boot to boot & reboot to Android (This step takes a LONG time)

Terms and Conditions

  • The upgrade to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is free of charge
  • We recommend backing up the device before upgrading
  • Update requires the device to be on the latest Jelly bean build (593)
