IECEx Zone 1 Wi-Fi for Statoil
BARTEC PIXAVI have won two contracts with ABB for delivering Ex certified wireless access points for Statoil’s Mariner and Gina Krog installations in the North Sea. The access points will be delivered in 2014, and confirms BARTEC PIXAVIs position as the leader within Ex-certified wireless infrastructure and mobile devices. The company is part of the BARTEC Group, the world market leader in explosion protection.
With BARTEC PIXAVI wireless technology onboard, Statoil will have a future-proof solution, which can be used for a wide range of tasks. Wireless technology save cabling costs, increases flexibility and opens up for many new usage scenarios. Wireless technology is redundant, safe and secure for transmitting mission-critical data. Wi-Fi can be used by mobile devices, such as the BARTEC PIXAVI Impact X Intrinsically Safe Smartphone, but also for other applications such as information systems, fire detectors and alarms, PAGA systems, inspection and maintenance, process and instrumentation data to mention a few. BARTEC PIXAVI offers stainless steel solutions for NORSOK, as well as an aluminum solution for other applications.
BARTEC PIXAVI CEO, Christian Rokseth says: “We are very pleased to be selected by ABB and Statoil as the Wi-Fi enabler for these two projects. Our Wi-Fi product portfolio for hazardous areas has been matured through working together with Statoil and other leading operators for over a decade. In fact, we are powering the majority of the Wi-Fi networks within Hazardous area in the North Sea. Wi-Fi has become a standard for mission critical information and Wi-Fi is now a trusted industry standard. Eliminating costly cable installations is also a great benefit, both during constructions and for future add-ons and modifications. Wireless is more scalable than wired networks. BARTEC PIXAVI is the only vendor that can offer the 802.11AC standard with enhanced security, range and data rate”
“New installations should embrace the 801.11AC standard since it offers Gigabit Ethernet speeds and excellent flexibility. In addition it cuts down on the number of antennas required reducing the cost compared to the older 802.11n standard. A key enabler is our brand new dual band Xbeam antenna, which offers true MIMO multiband performance in harmony with the 802.11AC standard. Combined with the EX-AP-A and our halogen free and flameproof cable offerings we can provide a turnkey solution for the customers. It is also worth mentioning that the BARTEC PIXAVI products are designed and manufactured in Norway” finishes Christian
