Configure SIPIDO


This is a tutorial for how to configure SIPIDO on your BARTEC PIXAVI device using Collaboration X (formerly called HostedMobiles). SIPIDO is the app which is always running on Orbit X, as well as available on all Gravity X and Impact X devices.

After going through this guide, you will be able to make SIP video calls using SIPIDO. SIP is a video conference standard supported by most video conferencing suppliers such as Cisco (Tandberg), LifeSize, Polycom and others. With a Collaboration X, a device registered on the company’s Collaboration X account can have the SIPIDO SIP-configurations administered easily and safely from Collaboration X. This walkthrough helps you create a policy which will be stored on Collaboration X and you can then ship this profile to your device (or device(s)), and start using SIPIDO. Press the screenshot to get bigger images. Collaboration X is accessed in your browser, we recommend having your BARTEC PIXAVI Mobile Device updated with the latest firmware and connected to Wi-Fi when using SIPIDO. SIPIDO and Collaboration X has tight integration to all of BARTEC PIXAVI mobile devices, Impact X, Gravity X and Orbit X. The tutorial below works for all of the devices.

Associate the mobile device to Collaboration X

PS: If you have already associated your device with a Collaboration X account, you can skip this step.

1. Create a Collaboration X account by pressing “sign up” on

2. Log into your account on Collaboration X and navigate to “Associate Device” under the “Devices Tab”. Choose your device “Impact X / Gravity X” or “Orbit X”

3. Follow the instructions on the site to associate your BARTEC PIXAVI device with a Collaboration X account

4. This step has been successful if your BARTEC PIXAVI mobile device shows up as a line item under the “Manage Devices” tab

Create and assign SIP address

Make sure your BARTEC PIXAVI Mobile Device is on the latest firmware. (For Orbit X, just make sure it is connected to the internet, and the latest Firmware will be downloaded automatically. For initial configuration of Orbit X, see this guide)

5. Navigate to the Policy tab, and press “New Policy”

Name your policy

6. Give your policy a name (for example: “My SIP settings” or “SIP settings for PMXIEX132435”) and the policy is added to the list


Policy Settings and Priority Level

7. Press “Edit” and you are in the settings view. Here you can choose priority level. If this is the first policy you create, you can choose any priority level. If you have another setting you want replaced, you need to choose a priority level higher than the old SIP setting, or delete the old SIP setting.

Activate the Video Conferencing Server

8. Navigate to the “Video Conference Server” tab and press “Activate”. Here you can choose to use either the SIPIDO SIP server, or configure your own or a third party SIP Server. We will choose SIPIDO for this tutorial. PS: The extension/domain cannot be changed unless you create your own SIP Server, this third party SIP server setup will be another tutorial.

Create SIPIDO User Account

9. You also need to set a user name for the SIPIDO account. You can choose automatically based on a pattern, which is your user name on Collaboration X, the device name, the device serial number, or you can choose your own SIP address name under “Custom“. This will be your video conferencing “phone number”. The extension/domain (last part of your “phone number”) has already been chosen for you (it is

SIPIDO Configuration

10. Navigate to the “SIPIDO Configuration” tab and press activate. In this tab, you can choose network parameters such as transport protocol, bitrate, resolution, predefined dial up number and toggle auto answer settings. When choosing your SIP Settings, typically you want to have “ANY” transport protocol, and choose the bitrate and resolution that fits your available bandwidth.

Orbit X: Since Orbit X does not have any touch screen you need to program it to “auto answer” and/or set a “Predefined number”. “Predefined number” is a SIP number you choose, when you add this and send to the Orbit X, it will call this number when you long press the “Recording” button on the Impact X

You can also manage “SIPIDO Camera Settings”, if you want to use SIPIDO for recording video or images on your device as well as “Administration Settings” if you want to disable some functionality for the end user.


Deploy the policy to a device or devices

11. You are now at the “Deploy” tab, where you choose the devices you want to send the settings or policy to. You now see the list of devices you manage, choose the desired device or devices, and press “Finish”

You have now successfully created your first SIPIDO profile and shipped it to your BARTEC PIXAVI Mobile Device(s). Make sure the Mobile Device is connected to the internet, open the Collaboration X app (not available on Orbit X) and you will see that the settings has been received, and that the policy is active. When you open SIPIDO, and “Swipe to Start” to the right, you will find the information in the menu. Under “Status” you will see if the device is connected “online” or if you have any network issue. As long as you are on a network which is open for video traffic (more info below), you are now ready to make your first SIPIDO Mobile Telepresence call!

Verifying configuration

You can also double check that your BARTEC PIXAVI Mobile Device has received the settings in Collaboration X.

  • By checking the “Collaboration X” app on your BARTEC PIXAVI Mobile Device (NB! Not available on Orbit X)
  • Press “Force Sync” in the Device view under “Device Info”
    Reboot the device
  • Alternatively, by checking the messages from Collaboration X:
  • Press “Manage Devices” under “Devices”
  • Press your device name that you shipped the SIPIDO settings to
  • Press “Message Log” under the device view
  • Double check that the latest Message was a “New SIPIDO Account” and that the Status is “Sent”

Test call

Now it is time to test the SIPIDO account.

  • Open SIPIDO app on your BARTEC PIXAVI Mobile Device
  • Make sure you are not behind firewalls that will not allow two way video,

    SIPIDO uses the following ports: SIP ports 5060 and 5061, RTP/RTCP ports 7050-7053

  • In SIPIDO, under “Settings” you are not “connected” Swipe to “User” and try hitting “unregister” and then “register” again
  • In the “Call” field you can for example call our test virtual meeting room which is available 24/7
  • Type in and press call

  • If you did everything correctly you will be greeted “welcome to the conference you are the first participant”. You have successfully made your first SIPIDO video call! NB! This is a public test meeting room!




Next time when you are adding more SIP addresses for more devices, you do not need to go through all of the steps in the guide. Just create another Collaboration X user (under “Users” and “New User”). When a new user is created, you can create a new SIPIDO user and ship to the new device or devices. NB! Each Mobile Device can only have one SIP address at a time. Each Collaboration X users can also only have one SIP address.

Here are some normal errors when setting up SIPIDO

  • Make sure the BARTEC PIXAVI Device is running the latest firmware, and is connected to an unrestricted network
  • If you are using a 3G connection, Wi-Fi tethering or a Wi-Fi modem from a mobile network operator, the SIP ports are often blocked. We have also seen that some regular ISPs are also blocking these ports. Check with your provider if the SIP ports 5060 and 5061, RTP/RTCP ports 7050-7053 are open or not. This can cause a situation where SIP registration works, but you cannot place a call. Some firewalls allow audio but not video. You can sometimes bypass the issue by choosing “UDP” instead of “TLS” connection in the Collaboration X “Video Conferencing Server” settings.

  • Calling from Orbit X to Impact X is possible. We recommend calling directly from Orbit X to Impact X by using the predefined number functionality.


Orbit X Configuration

The Orbit X is a completely standalone product, and you do not need Impact X to get it working. You only need an Impact X (or any other Android device) to get it connected to the internet for the first time. Orbit X pairing with Impact X is designed to be only for initial setup to get Orbit X connected to a Wi-Fi network (and the internet). Once the Orbit X is connected to the Internet, managing it from Collaboration X is the easiest. The Orbit X will connect to the preferred network (based on the priority) or the first or only network available. From Collaboration X, you can perform the steps explained above.
