Fuel tanks are hazardous areas
Inside and around fuel tanks are classified as hazardous areas. You therefore need special tools for performing inspections, maintenance and repairs in and around fuel tanks. In many cases the tanks are hazardous even when they are empty. Fuel leaks can happen and they are potential high risk incidents that can be avoided by performing fuel tank inspections regularly. In fact, these inspections are mandatory in many industries. Documenting both inside and outside of the fuel tank with video can be beneficial for compliance as well as for training and education. Recording video requires high quality cameras with high end optics and image sensor performance. A compact camera can also be used to access hard to reach areas. Low light performance as well as the possibility to manually configure settings such as aperture, focus, exposure time etc is important. In addition, the camera need to have high battery capacity, powerful LED lights and sufficient storage. Being able to mount the camera to a tripod or telescopic pole is often helpful when inspecting large tanks.
